8 Day

This safari combines three intimate and extremely comfortable African camps - each
with different characteristics. Small is always best! These hand picked camps
within the Moremi Game Reserve
and the private Chitabe and Kwedi consessions
in the Okavango Delta, provide the ultimate experience in terms of wildlife;
habitats range from palm-fringed islands, ox-bow channels, papyrus swamps and
river channels to grassy plains and woodlands. Indulge in the best of mokoro
rides, boating, game drives and walking.
Days 1-2: You will be met at
Your accommodation for two nights is a spacious and luxuriously appointed East
African style tent with en-suite facilities including an outdoor shower with
views of the floodplain. Activities consist of day and night game drives in
open 4x4 vehicles and guided game walks. The camp also has two elevated hides
located in the concession, where guests can experience a "sleep-out"
under the stars.
Wildlife in the area includes elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and
wild dog. Guests are also likely to see zebra, reedbuck, giraffe, kudu, impala
and all the plains game. Night drives can be very rewarding, giving rare
opportunities to view animals such as pangolin, civet, serval, porcupine and
aardwolf.
Days 3-4: After your morning activity today you transfer by light-aircraft to Xigera Camp,
situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta.
Two nights will be spent at this luxurious tented camp, nestled in a
magnificent riverine forest. Tents are raised on wooden decks – with superb
views of the floodplain – and have en-suite facilities and an outdoor shower.
Permanent water all year round allows you to enjoy an unparalleled variety of
activities including foot safaris, mokoro trips and powerboat outings. When
water levels permit, game drives are also an attraction.

Lion and leopard are regularly seen from the camp. Lechwe, sitatunga, bushbuck,
buffalo and hippo are often spotted from mekoros and on walks. In fact the area
boasts the highest density of the rare and elusive sitatunga antelope found
anywhere in the Okavango Delta. This camp is a paradise for avid birdwatchers.
Days 5-7: Today you transfer by light aircraft to Little Vumbura,
located in a private 30,000 hectare concession known locally as the Kwedi
Reserve, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the northern reaches of the
Okavango Delta.
You will be accommodated for three nights in large and comfortable tented rooms
with en-suite facilities. There is an additional shower under the stars and
each tent has a veranda with wonderful views. Activities are both land and
water based. Mekoros traverse the floodplains under the guidance of experienced
polers. Open 4x4 vehicles allow you to get close to animals in the savannah
areas, while walks around the islands provide an opportunity to enjoy
Little Vumbura has both the wetland and savannah species of wildlife, including
red lechwe, waterbuck, hippos, steenbok, reedbuck, crocodiles as well as sable,
kudu, wildebeest and tsessebe who roam the open plains. This is one of the best
places to view the elegant and magnificent sable antelope. Herds of buffalo and
elephant occur here, along with the major predators - lion, hyena,
leopard, wild dog and cheetah. Guests who enjoy their birding will love the

Please note that all of our itineraries are tailor-made to suit the particular

recommended combination of camps.
Detail on lodges:
Chitabe Lediba is small and intimate - just right as a private camp for small
groups or families; its two family units have adjoining bedrooms and en-suite
bathrooms.
All five spacious Meru-style tents are built on raised decks and have the same
luxurious interiors as Chitabe Camp. En-suite bathrooms complement the outdoor
shower "with a view." A dining area, lounge and pool have glorious
views over the surrounding floodplains and a small lediba (remnant lagoon that
has become a waterhole), after which the camp is named, where game comes to
drink during the day.
Morning and afternoon game drives explore the area and its denizens, the
evening drive usually returning after dark so as to get a chance at spotting
the shyer nocturnal animals such as genet, civet, serval, porcupine and
possibly aardwolf.

Game drives take place in the same area as Chitabe's guests, so the viewing
experience is identical. Wildlife seen here includes elephant, buffalo, lion,
leopard and cheetah. Wild dog are also sometimes found in the area. Guests
should also see zebra, tsessebe, giraffe, kudu and impala. Two hides can be
used as a "sleep out" experience as well as a game viewing platform
during the day.

Xigera Camp
The camp consists of ten luxuriously furnished tented rooms each with en-suite
facilities and an outdoor shower. Raised on wooden platforms and walkways, each
tent offers superb views of the seasonal floodplain and lagoon and a feel of
living in the midst of a riverine forest.
Meals and evening drinks are enjoyed in the lounge, pub and dining area
overlooking a permanently flowing channel or under the stars in a traditional
African boma. For those hot days there is a small plunge pool in which to cool
off.
Guests are sometimes treated to close-up views of lion or leopard using the
footbridge connecting Xigera's island to the next! The camp
"newspaper" (a sand pit built into the bridge to capture paw prints)
is "read" each morning and provides information on unseen nightly
visitors to camp.
Permanent water year-round allows an unparalleled variety of activities such as
mokoro trips, game drives and motorboat outings; being the only camp in
the area ensures total privacy.
A mokoro ride is mandatory at this camp. On this traditional dug-out canoe, the
only sounds are the rustling of the wind through the reeds, the lapping of the
water against the boat, and the call of the African Fish-Eagle. The blue of the
sky is mirrored in the water, broken only by large round water lily leaves and
their stunning purple and white flowers.
When water levels permit, game drives are an attraction. During drier years,
drives are available throughout the year, but if there has been a very high
flood, drives take place only from late September to April.
Xigera is a delight for birdwatchers, with Pel's Fishing-Owl, African Skimmer,
Slaty Egret, Wattled Crane and a host of raptors, other waterbirds and
colourful kingfishers to be seen. An abundance of wildlife includes red lechwe,
lion, spotted hyaena, and leopard and the highest density of the rare sitatunga
antelope in the Delta.

The main area encompasses a pub, dining room and lounge under canvas on saligna
decking. A reading area overlooks the flood plains and a star deck leads off
the dining area. A plunge pool is useful to cool off during the heat of the
day.

Surrounded as it is by water and lying close to large rivers, water-based
activities are a focus with mekoro (traditional dug out canoes) traversing the
floodplains under the guidance of experienced polers, and motor boats exploring
the permanent channels.
Game drives in open Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the
savannah areas. Walks (on request) around the islands are an opportunity to
